The Hogan™ Development Survey (HDS) is one of a new breed of personality questionnaires.
It measures the ‘Dark Side’ of personality, or those aspects of our personality that come to the fore when we’re under pressure, distracted, or promoted beyond our comfort zone or level of competence. Heavily based on research into Management Derailment, it explores 11 areas of apparent strength which, when overdone, become counter-productive (e.g. enthusiasm can become over-powering or volatile; diligence can turn into obstructive perfectionism).
Although “the Dark Side” can sound negative, when the HDS is used well it has a surprisingly positive effect and can even be used as an effective team building tool.
