All assessments include communication with schools/other agencies prior to appointment but only with parents’ consent. Parents are required to complete a ‘Parent Referral Document’. Assessments usually take place at the office base.
Consultation £55
Consultation is often for the parents alone. It can take place prior to any decision to proceed with an assessment or subsequent to the assessment report. It is charged at an hourly rate. Consultation can be a useful first step when parents need assistance to clarify problem issues. It can also be used as a follow up to assessment.
Formal Assessment £450
Detailed educational assessment of both ability, attainments and learning style lasting approximately 3 hours. This is followed by full discussion with parents for feedback, review and interpretation of results. A report is produced which includes details of the assessment session together with a summary and recommendations. Test data is given in full.
Formal Assessment at school £575*
Educational assessment at the child's school, including observation in the classroom, discussion with staff and individual sessions with the child lasting in total 2-3½ hours. Discussion and feedback with parents on site. Summary session with staff and parents. A report is produced as described above.
Visit to school or home £75*
Specific advice to staff following assessment can be useful in many circumstances to discuss or review the implementation of strategies. Charged at an hourly rate. This service is also helpful as a home visit to discuss the needs of the pre-school child.
Individual Counselling/Educational Intervention £55
Adults and children are offered individual work with a specific focus, e.g. Thinking Skills work or therapeutic counselling. A contract of expectation and charges is drawn up prior to sessions commencing. Office based. Individual counselling at school charged as above.
All services can be tailored to individual circumstances and 2 copies of the reports are sent to the parents for distribution within two weeks of the appointment date.
